About Us

The Beach Scoot was designed out of my need for mobility on rough terrain and especially the beach sand on the Gulf Coast of Florida. I had polio at age 5 in 1954, having to walk with crutches, leg and back braces to be mobile. My brother Tom had to help carry my book bag so I could get on the bus and go to school. I have been pretty mobile all my adult life until 13 years ago. I started having more difficulty walking on my crutches and was then diagnosed with post-polio syndrome. About seven years ago, losing even more of my mobility and having to go to a motorized wheelchair I went to the beach with my family, staying in a Condo, and was unable to go to the beach at all with my wife, children and grandchildren. I sat in my wheelchair and watched that week, as they enjoyed the beach, and I was unable to go for my lack of mobility. Out of frustration, searching around for something to rent to assist me and coming up empty handed, my thoughts started the wheels turning to design the “Beach Scoot”.

My brother (Tom) and I started the process of building prototypes to get one that would run in the soft sands on the Panama City beaches, so after two years of designing and testing we had a design to test and modify, and finally the “Beach Scoot” was created.

The Beach Scoot will accommodate two people with a 400 lb. weight capacity or for a larger person.  The Beach Scoot is classified as a wheelchair as it will go through a 36” wide door. It is a much more versatile mobility assist device than any other that we have seen.

Tom and I have our mission to keep inventing and designing items that will give back a better Quality of Life at affordable prices to persons with disabilities allowing inclusion in life events “Let Freedom Ring”.

We are proud of our “Made in America product”, and hope that you will enjoy our product as much as we have. Get down to the beach and ride with your family on the “Beach Scoot”.
